Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026
The short version
- Your private notebooks are only visible to you. We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.
- You sign in with Google. We get your name, email and profile picture from Google, nothing else.
- When you use an AI feature, the notes it needs are sent to Anthropic (the company that makes Claude) to create the answer. They are not used to train AI models.
- Your data is stored in the EU (Ireland). You can ask to see, download or delete it at any time.
1. Who we are
Noti is run by Jude Idamunkem, a sole trader based in Ireland ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the information described here. If you have any question about your privacy, email hello@notistudy.com.
2. What we collect
| What | Examples | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Account details | Your name, email address and profile picture | Google, when you choose "Continue with Google" |
| Profile | Your @username, bio and the profile picture you choose in Noti | You |
| Your content | Notebooks, typed and handwritten notes, drawings, images, files, voice memos, Sparks, flashcards, quizzes, study guides and podcasts | You |
| Social activity | Friends, follows, likes, comments, public notebooks and the group notebooks you join | You |
| Subscription details | Your plan, subscription status, renewal and end dates, and a customer reference | Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or store your card details. |
| Usage information | How many AI actions you've used today, and when you signed up and last signed in | Created as you use Noti |
| Visit statistics | That a page of Noti was opened, for how long, the type of device (phone, tablet or computer), the country guessed from your device's time zone, the site or link you came from, and whether you were signed in and on Free or Pro | Counted anonymously while a Noti page is open. No cookies, no IP address and nothing that identifies you or follows you between visits. |
| Technical information | Your IP address and browser type in server logs | Recorded automatically by our hosting providers to keep the service running and secure |
3. How we use it, and our legal basis
- To provide Noti to you: storing your notebooks, syncing them between devices, running group notebooks and AI study tools, and managing your plan. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
- To keep Noti safe and fair: preventing abuse, enforcing daily AI limits and fixing problems. Legal basis: our legitimate interests.
- To understand how Noti is used: counting visits, which countries and devices people use, and which links bring people here, so we can improve the app. These counts are anonymous. Legal basis: our legitimate interests.
- To meet legal duties, such as keeping payment records for tax. Legal basis: legal obligation.
- To contact you about your account, security or important changes. We will only send marketing emails if you have agreed to them, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
We do not sell your personal data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not make decisions about you using automated processing that has legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Who can see your content
- Private notebooks, Sparks and study materials: only you.
- Group notebooks: everyone who has joined that notebook. Anyone with the invite link can join, so only share it with people you trust.
- Public notebooks, your profile, likes and comments: anyone with a Noti account. Other people see your @username and the picture you chose, never your Google name or email address.
- Us: we only access your content when needed to run the service, fix a problem you report, or meet a legal requirement.
5. AI features
Study tools, step-by-step math, handwriting search and other AI features are powered by Claude, made by Anthropic. When you use one, the notes and images it needs (for example, the notebook you're studying) are sent securely to Anthropic to create the answer, then returned to you. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, this data is not used to train its AI models, and Anthropic keeps it only for a limited time for safety and legal purposes. AI answers can be wrong, so please check anything important.
6. Service providers we use
We use trusted companies to run Noti. They process data on our behalf under contracts that protect it:
| Provider | What they do | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in and file storage | EU (Ireland) |
| Netlify | Hosts the website | Global network, including the US |
| Sign in with Google | Global | |
| Anthropic | AI features | United States |
| Stripe | Processes payments for Pro. It handles your card details under its own privacy policy. | United States |
Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, it is protected by approved safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
7. How long we keep it
- Your account and content: for as long as you have an account. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your content within 30 days. Copies in backups are removed when those backups expire.
- Daily AI usage counts: kept with your account and deleted with it.
- Anonymous visit statistics: about 13 months, then deleted.
- Payment and subscription records: kept for 6 years, as Irish tax law requires.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- have your data deleted;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive your data in a portable format (you can also download a backup of your notebooks in Settings);
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it.
To use any of these rights, email hello@notistudy.com from the email address on your account. We will reply within one month. If you're not happy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland at dataprotection.ie.
9. Cookies and local storage
Noti doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. We use your browser's local storage only for things the app needs to work: keeping you signed in, and remembering settings such as dark mode. If you clear it, you'll just need to sign in again. We count visits without cookies and without storing anything in your browser: each open page gets a random number that disappears when you close it.
10. Age
You must be at least 16 to use Noti. If you believe a child under 16 has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored by Supabase with encryption at rest. Our database rules make sure people can only read their own private data. Files are private and opened through links that expire. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information, and we'll tell you and the regulator promptly if a breach affects you.
12. Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. The date at the top shows when this policy was last updated.
